AppLab:Stick House Neighborhood

From Bold Idea Knowledgebase

Making Blueprints to Build a Neighborhood

Follow the student guide section for " Making Blueprints ".

Students will construct a "neighborhood" of identical houses by drawing the same house 3 times. To do this they must put all their code for building their house into a function , which like a blueprint for code. Instead of copying-and-pasting their code 3 times, students make one function to build a house, and then call that function three times.

Adding Unique Features

Follow the student guide section for " Adding Unique Features ".

Students will learn about function parameters in order to make their functions more flexible.

Extra Time

See the " Need More? " section for more challenges.

Reflection

It is important for both students and mentors to reflect on how the session went. Mentors can lead a quick debrief and provide the space for students to give feedback and think about what they've learned.
