What is a learning objective?

A well-written learning objective should:

  • be observable and measurable
  • focus on specific knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs
  • specify student actions (not those of a mentor or teacher)
  • be clear messages to mentors and students to know what is expected

Objectives for coding fundamentals should be focused on the usage of a tool to solve a problem, not just one's ability to copy code from an example.
