DISD volunteer application and background check

For our volunteers that work with Dallas Independent School District Sites, the background check process is different than when you volunteer with only Bold Idea. To work with students at one of our DISD school sites, you will need to complete the DISD volunteer application and background check. This will need to be completed every calendar year regardless of how long you have mentored with Bold Idea or if you have completed other background checks through Bold Idea directly.

Submitting your Background Check

Once your background check is complete you will need to screenshot the portion of your profile showing it is complete and send it to your team captain(s). This background check process is done through only DISD and Bold Idea staff has no way to access who or who not does it. If you do not send any proof of completion to your leadership team, you will not be cleared on the Bold Idea volunteer portal and will not be able to access materials for the club or attend as a mentor until it is complete.

How to complete your DISD Background Check

Go to Dallas ISD Volly
Either create an account or log in if you have completed this application previously
Choose a general volunteer-type
Fill out your information
When it asks for a department choose STEM
When it asks for a school choose the school that is your Bold Idea partner site
Complete required forms and videos
Once completed wait for an email confirming that your background check is cleared (it is a fast process and usually only takes an hour or two)
Send a screenshot of your Volunteer requirements with all status columns containing the green "Active" button.
